Ndiswrapper help
 

Im want to intall a driver for a linsys usb wireless adapter. The driver is saved on my disk called rt2500usb.sys

Whenever I choose the ndiswrapper driver and hit "next" I get a message saying no device supporting the rt2500usb.sys ndiswrapper driver is present.

I have the adapter pluged in, and it does have power.
Can anyone help me install this or know something that I am doing wrong?

It's been a while since I installed ndiswrapper, but you might also need the .inf file, and perhaps running "lspci" might help locate the hardware address for your wireless adaptor. Alternatively, if you're not married to mandriva as your distribution of choice, Mepis Linux automatically detects and sets up ndiswrapper for you. (Which is why I've forgotten how to troubleshoot these problems.) Otherwise, it might be easier to download and install the ndiswrapper drivers by hand, as they include documentation to step you through all this, and it's fairly easy to follow.

Sorry this isn't a perfect answer, but I hope it helps a little.

um, disregard the lspci command, as I missed the part about it being usb -- and that might be part of the problem, as I don't know for sure if ndiswrapper supports usb devices yet. Sorry about that.

Look here http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/m...dex.php/List#L and if your adapter is mentioned, use the driver they advise. There are some linksys usb adapters listed, hope yours is one of them.
