nautilus and windows domains
 

Hello all,

I am trying to use nautilus (on mandrake 9.0) to browse my network and it seems that I am able to view my network with no problem ove smb but I am not able to get into any of my filer (netapp). We use a Windows Domain Controller for server authentication and that I am thinking is the problem since I get an access denied when i try to go into one of the folders.

Is there a way to properly authenticate to a windows domain controller or filer so that I can write to it and get proper permissions as if I were on my windows or Mac?

It's weird...
Can anyone explain to me why it is that when I try to access any of my file shares via smb though nautilus directly I get an access denied but if I mount the shares using the control center to edit the vfstab and mount it I can do all that I need to through nautilus that way?

I.E.
The way I was doing it before was to open nautilus and type in smb://server
The server would open but when I clicked on any share I got an access denied message.

Now what I have done:
Edit the fstab via the control center for all of my server mount points
open nautilus and then go to that mount point and then browse without getting an access denied.
example: fstab has an entry for /share. If I go to /share via nautilus I see what is in that share and can drill as far as I want freely using my allowed permissions.

Weird I think....
