Nautilus
Hi gang, absolute newbie here. Just started working with a live disk of Ubuntu 9.04. When I attempt to enter anything into the command window, I get the following message, "Nautilus can't handle this type of location."
Any suggestions? I am completely unable to enter any text commands, file names, anything. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post. Tried the search feature before posting this. Again, complete rookie here, please make any responses as detailed as possible. Thanks in advance. |

Nautilus
Hi Pegwole, thanks for the reply. I'm new enough that I'm not sure what it's called. It's the large text window on the Ubuntu desktop. All I've tried to do so far is the mkdir command and the touch command, (first exercise in the textbook for the linux course I'm taking this fall) One of these books which seems to assume a basic familiarity with the operating system. Now is when you tell me I'm doing something stupid like typing the commands in the wrong text box. Guess I'll survive the embarassment. By the way, I'm next door in Ohio.
Thanks again for the help. Never mind, got it. |
Please have a look at the "Menu" :
> Programs > > System Tools > Terminal The 'Terminal' ( 'gnome-terminal' ) is the best tool for commands. ..... ..... I have never entered a command in Nautilus, and never found a command line tool in it. ..... |
