N00b requires help configuring ati radeon 8500 for direct opengl hardware support


Hi all .... i posted this thread also on hardware problems .... but since no one replyed i thought it was off topic in the hardware section and since i'm a noob i decided to post it here again ... here is the original thread:

"HI all. i am a linux n00b. i have tryed this alternative os and i like it very much. sarah m g 's wallpapers look wonderful with mandrake shading effects , the system is very fast and stable , and so i have decided to dump win os . b4 doing that i need an useful tip : how can i install newest ati driver on x version 4.3 ? i have red a LOT of how tos and also followed step by step ati main instruction but my x window system still uses mesa open gl.
here my computer :
celeron 2400mhz
256 mb ram ddr
Ati 8500 LE
Asus P4S8X-X mother board with SiS648host to pci System Bridge controller and SiS963
Pci to ISA controller
nec cd burner 8x 4x 32x
Philips 105s monitor
creative soundblaster pci 128
onboard ethernet controller
disablet on board soundmax audiocard
A 20 gb hard disk 7200 rpm (dont know the brand )
kernel sources v 4.21 (thoose in mandrake 9.1 cd ... i suppose it is that version)

when trying to install the rpm package downloaded from ati webstie i use this command:
rpm -Uh --force <ati_package_name>.rpm
resulting in this error after the module creation:

As of now you can still run your XServer in 2D, but hardware acclerated
OpenGL will not work and 2D graphics will lack performance.

now if i try to run the command ./make.sh in /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod i get an acces denied error even if im root.....
and if i run fglrxconfig i complete it succesful but even if i restart Xserver and type fglrxinfo it still says mesa libraries are used for gl rendering ... (infact tux racer runs very slooow )

PLZ help me ! i need to play again CS ! PLZ !!!! ( abt cs ... what version of wine should i use ? i downloaded the latest on the ne t ... still have to install that ... but i need to fix this problem b4....)"

Can someone help me ?

First issue these commands as root :

Code:
# chmod 755 /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/make.sh
# chmod 755 /lib/modules/fglrx/make_install.sh
Then try running the scripts again and see what happens !!

i tryed it few minutes ago ... nothing happens .... still ger an error b4 running scripts .....the error is : Permission denied (((((((
