n00b internet woes

Hello All!
I am just getting my feet wet with Linux , just having loaded xandros 3 on my box in a dual boot mode with XP Pro. Installation was a snap and I have everything working with the exception of internet connectivity.I am on roadrunner using a motorola pcx2600 cable modem and have a onboard network interface I use to run with linux. I set up the connection using both dhcp and manual settings and the box will connect on manual setting tho really slow that I have no connectivity. I ran a ipconfig on my XP OS to get settings , imputing ip, gateway, subnet mask, and dns settings. I am at a loss to what I have done wrong or have not setup correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated!

So you are directly connected, no "login" stuff in any OS? If so, you likely obtain your settings via DHCP from your ISP (roadrunner). Do you have ethernet running the whole network, or do you have your cable modem connected to your computer via USB or something similar?

Post the results (feel free to xxx your actual IP) of:
/sbin/ifconfig

So we can see what's going on. Also, since you didn't mention it, what ethernet card are you running, if you don't know, post the results of:
/sbin/lspci

And:
/sbin/lsmod

Welcome to LQ :)

Cool
