Arrow mysql rpm help

It looks like mysql is on this system...

[root@192 mysql]# rpm -qa|grep mysql

Is this just a security update or is mysql actually installed? I noticed on mysql site that if the rpm is installed it should of created a mysql user and put something in /etc/init.d ...

I can't find a file called mysqld ...

please help

From a console window, use the locate command to find mysqld. locate mysqld. If it was installed when you installed RH, it should show where it's installed.

If you installed mysql after installing RH, run updatedb first to update the database of installed files, then run locate mysqld.

If you run 'locate mysql' it'll show you everything with mysql (lowercase) in the name, including documentation. 'locate MySQL' (upper and lower case) will probably show you directories pertaining to mysql.

thank you

Thanks for the reply.

I found out all the client libraries where installed for an older version. The server wasn't intalled.

I just upgraded to mysql 5... installed the "compatibility" libraries server etc ... turned off SElinux and everything looks great.
