mysql not installing even though dependencies have been resolved

I am trying to install myslq-5.0.45 on my rhel5 box.

Initially it said, mysql needs perl dbd and dbi modules. I downloaded the latest ones and installed them.

However when i do : rpm -qa|grep perl, i dont see the modules installed...and neither does mysql install.

Any help ?? How do i solve this.

thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Did you install these modules using rpm packages? If not, then rpm will not be able to see them and you will keep getting the missing dependencies error.
