Angry Mysql Installation Error


my question is MYSQL INSTALLATION ERROR
when i was typing the command to test the mysql whether or not is working, there is error displayed on the monitor like what i wrtied below

[root@localhost mysql]# /bin/mysqladmin status
mysqladmin; connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error cannot connect to local mysql server through socket /var/lib/mysql.sock(2)




-------------i can not find out the /var/lib/mysql.sock(2) in my MYSQL files,i also did /sbin service mysql start -----but occur unrecognised service

Hi.

Check the log file for interesting messages. It should be at /var/log/mysqld.log
