MySql Install error
I trying for several hours to install myqsl 4.0.24 and i just cant see what is the problem.
I'm using Slackware 10.1 and i ve removed the package mysql with pkgtool...so far so good,no problem with this.I went to mysql.com to download the tar.gz from them, and after i made this: as root: tar xvfz mysql-standard-4.0.24.tar.gz cd mysql-standard-4.0.24 ./configure --prefix==/opt/mysql Code:
NOTE: This is a MySQL binary distribution. It's ready to run, you don't |
All you need to do is
1) extract the file to where you want it to be located .e.g. mine was extracted to /usr/local and rename mysql 2) as root go to /usr/local/mysql/scripts and do "./mysql_install_db" 3) as root do chown -R root.mysql /usr/local/mysql 4) as root do chown -R mysql.mysql /usr/local/mysql/data 5) You then have to modify the Slackware mysqld script so that it has the right paths to your mysql installation. The databases are in /usr/local/mysql/data in the example I gave. 6) You may have to change passwords for the mysql user. |

root@server:/opt/mysql/scripts# ./mysql_install_db ./mysql_install_db: line 86: my_print_defaults: command not found Didn't find ./bin/mysqld You should do a 'make install' before executing thisscript root@server:/opt/mysql/scripts#  Now im really confused???? |
Thats puzzling cause it seems like you downloaded the binary that doesn't need to be compiled. Anyway take a look at this documentation, maybe it'll help you sort out your problem.
