mysql in ubuntu

hi.. i am parameshwaran.. i am using ubuntu 12.04 os. I have installed mysql server 5.5 in my laptop. I was unable to access mysql by root. So i would like to uninstall and decided to reinstall again. But i cant uninstall also. please help me to resolve this issue.

No need to uninstall, use this as a learning experience. If you were in a production environment you wouldnt be able to simply remove MySQL and reinstall it.

You said you were unable to uninstall is apt giving you errors?

Sorry wrong version of MySQL referenced in the previous link, although the steps are probably the same here is the one for MySQL 5.5. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/...rmissions.html
