mysql database installation


Hi there,

I am trying to male mysql use a database that I already have but I donät kn ow where to put it. Can someone help me.

In general I find the safest way to do this is to dump the existent database to a text file (using the mysqldump command) and then import it into the new database (just recreate a pass the dump file as input to the mysql command). This is a lot safer than copying around the binary .MYD and .MYI files as their formats change between releases.
