My Youtube is not working properly on Zorin vm

My Youtube is not working properly on Zorin vm using latest firefox 60.0.1.
All I see is the Youtube logo in the top left hand side and thats it, everything else is greyed out. With Chromium browser I can see everything but video's are lagging badly. Is there a way to fix up my firefox browser?

Zorin vm is 128mb display, 2gb cpu, and 2048GB ram.

Does it work on the main machine?

Check your VM settings first.

Where exactly should I be looking for info on what graphics drivers the vm is using?

Does this help?
Acceleration VT-x/AMD,Nested Paging

Host
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family

How would I go about finding that out for each?

post #1 sounds more like javascript is disabled.
or maybe youtube doesn't let you watch through tor?
because that's what you're attempting, no?

From your answers to basic questions it sounds like you need to find out more about the VM. In the VM there is all the systems you would expect. But they are simply passed to the host if the same adapter is part of the host.

I'm not really sure if VirtualBoxAdditions are installed inside the VM. And actually I have no any idea how that VM was installed and configured. From my side it looks like you have insufficient resources within that VM.

Your saying if the guest graphics adapter is same as host it defaults to host, is that what you saying? And if its not?

I have VirtualBox additions installed as far as I can tell. Does that affect what I'm experiencing with Youtube performance?

you need to read the functionality of that additions, the handling of display is definitely improved by that.

read the VM manual Guest Additions

Since I have added Guest Additions I presume I have activated 3d acceleration already? Are you saying I can tweak video acceleration more? I don't see anything in the vm manual telling me how to do that.

In the Oracle VM VirtualBox Manual, the only reference to Guest Additions and video is in Chapter 4.
"Better video support
While the virtual graphics card which VirtualBox emulates for any guest operating system provides all the basic features, the custom video drivers that are installed with the Guest Additions provide you with extra high and non-standard video modes as well as accelerated video performance.

In addition, with Windows, Linux and Solaris guests, you can resize the virtual machine's window if the Guest Additions are installed. The video resolution in the guest will be automatically adjusted (as if you had manually entered an arbitrary resolution in the guest's display settings). Please see Section 1.8.5, “Resizing the machine's window” also.

Finally, if the Guest Additions are installed, 3D graphics and 2D video for guest applications can be accelerated; see Section 4.5, “Hardware-accelerated graphics”."

I clicked Section 4.5, “Hardware-accelerated graphics”. and quote:
"if an application inside your virtual machine uses 3D features through the OpenGL or Direct3D 8/9 programming interfaces, instead of emulating them in software (which would be slow), VirtualBox will attempt to use your host's 3D hardware."

I installed a few linux distros as VMs and performance varies. I never got to the bottom of it, but I confess to not having read the Manual. I found Mint is fast, and the graphics worked. The host is Slackware, not good for something like Freecad, which uses 99 or so python modules. That means 99 downloads of source, downloads of slackbuild, compiles, packaging, and installs. Debian I could never get right.
