fsck died with exit status
An automatic file system check of the root file system failed. A manual fsck must be performed then the system restarted. The fsck should be performed in maintenance mode with the root file system mounted in read only mode...
This is the message I now get with the word "warning" in red

If you mean XO as in OLPC then it's basically a slimmed down Fedora beneath. Reboot the machine and at tge GRUB prompt edit the entry and add " 1" (that's space-1) to the kernel line and boot it (else reboot the machine from a Fedora installer or Live CD and at the command prompt type "linux rescue"). When it allows you to type text again type 'fdisk -l' to see if all harddisk(-like) devices are on-line and type for example 'fsck /dev/sda1' if the partition you want to check is the first SATA or SCSI(-emulated) device. Let us know if you can work with this or if you need more explanation.

Post at Xtra Ordinary 2010 (Page 1) - Webpath Forums - http://webpath.net/forum/viewforum.php?id=2

and let Todd know, if the sd card is messed up he can probably send you a new one. Or you can download Xtra ordinary and try reinstalling it yourself.

You can force a fscck at boot.

My kids love it, the poor Xo had been sitting in a closet for the last year now it gets used pretty much daily.
