My VNC doesn't work on my linux. I don't have X11 on it.

I installed VNC-4.0-1.i386.rpm on my Red Hat Linux 9 successfully. When I ran vncserver, i got this message:
vncserver: couldn't find 'Xauth' on your PATH

When I ran vncviewer, i got this message:
vncviewer: unable to open display " "

I don't have X11 (Gnome or kdm) installed on my Linux. Is this what cause the problem? Do I have to have XWindow in order for VNC to work?

Is there any version of VNC that work without X11 installed?

VNC uses X so you will need to have it installed.
