I got Linux a few days ago, and all of a sudden my task bar had disappeared
and I cant get it back.
I read another thread which said to type "dcop kicker panel restart" but the terminal just says "call failed".
Is there any way to sort this out because I dont know any other way to get at my programs!

Has it disappeared for all users or just the one???
I bet it only accounts for one user account. You might just want to create a new one and move any files you've made over to it, then delete the old user account.
When I log on as root is says that the kde panel crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV) and it may be due to an bug/error. I get this info:
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".

I have no idea what this means, but I am guessing that I can't delete the root to fix the problem.
I have tried Alt+F2 then kicker but I get the same message.
Any other wisdom would be appreciated!
