Could you supply a bit more info:
- Which linux distribution are you using (Ubuntu, Mint, Arch, Slackware ... ) ?
- Which desktop environment are you using (Gnome, KDE, Mate, XFCE, LXDE ...) ?
- Under which conditions (how) did the taskbar "disappear" ?

using ubuntu...not sure the version.....first time to use it at all.........not sure at all what I did to make it go away.
was playing with everything to figure out how to set up my wireless printer

you learned your first lesson about gnu/linux:
it allows you to do all kinds of things. no obstacles. (the LEGOs are not glued together)
keep track of what you're doing so you'll know how to undo it.

Hey tomrt - I'll assume that your desktop environment is Gnome/Unity then, if you are using Ubuntu. Not an Ubuntu user myself, but by "taskbar", are you referring to the Unity Launcher on the left that contains shortcuts (icons ) ? See this link:
