My system does not recognize audio CDs.

21 May 2011 (And still here!)

Hello. About two days ago I installed Bodhi Linux on my machine. I like it because it's fast and small. Anyway, I have two issues: I can't get the system to recognize any of my audio cd's, or my USB drive. I don't even get a notification that there is anything in my DVD drive. The other issue is that I am unable to go in and look at my hardware configuration from the main window. I have looked through as many paths that I could think of without killing the system, and I don't want to try anything I know nothing about.

I'm familiar with some terms and commands of Linux, & what they're supposed to do, but I'm sure I'd fail the final in Paul H's coding academy. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I'd try a different distro.

If you like "small and fast" (but still want a GUI and a desktop), then maybe Puppy Linux might be a good fit.

Otherwise, try SimplyMepis or any of the other popular distros (OpenSuSE, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc).

IMHO .. PSM
