Hello there... i would appreciate someone could help me. i am using Fedora Core 2 and i cannot find my second partition. i tried to mount it and it could not be mounted because it is NTFS. i have asked for help and they told me to re-compile kernel. is there any other possible way to make linux recognise this partition? if not, could someone tell me what to do to be ready to recompile my kernel...
even if it is WAY too difficult for me i can give it a try... i don't want to install win-blows again

as root type
modprobe ntfs
then try mounting it

i get the following message:

bash: modprobe: command not found

Did you su to root?

yes i did
well i think i did....
su
then password
then modprobe ntfs

ntfs module not found, thats what i got when i logged in as root

Fedore Core 1 (and probably 2) doesn't have a link in /bin or /usr/bin for /sbin/modprobe, so you'll have to type it all out: /sbin/modprobe ntfs.

Go to that website, and install the RPM for your system. Fedora doenst come with NTFS support. Once you have installed that package, mount the drive by typing (as root):

mount /dev/(hdd name) /(location you want it to be mounted to)

well which parameters should i use to run the rpm? just rpm kernel-ntfs-2.6.6-1.435.i686.rpm or something else?

type (i think you need to be root):

rpm -i <nameofrpm>.rpm

well, i am recompiling my kernel right now, i home this will work.
is there any possible way to decrease one partition's capacity without formatting?
