Have you tried using a different port? Some laptops have two sorts of usb ports. I once had an HP laptop which behaved like that. The ports on the right hand side were bootable devices, but those on the left were not.
the 64 bit processor doesn't mean it has a 64 bit UEFI. My Lenovo 100s is 64 bit celeron, 32 bit UEFI.
looking at that lenovo, looks like it does have a 64 bit UEFI though, so not the problem in this case.
Check in the bios settings for legacy boot support. There are many posts online about having to use legacy support to boot ubuntu/mint on that notebook.
None of the answerers gave correct info.
But luckily I found the answer in one of the posts:
Windows 10 has simply requested that their cooperating partners, like Lenovo,
to change format of their kernel, so Linux Mint simply cannot boot any of their kernels!
that Linux simply is impossible on my Lenovo with Windows 10.
Basically I asked for a backdoor to change the kernel, but all you said was stuff that worked on Old Windows, Mac or Linux machines. While waiting for answer, I cleaned the machine to a functional level with Revo and Spybot. Thus I can do without Linux on this machine. Linux is not an ideology, it is a computer program.
Please, guys, don't proclaim Linux to be perfect; it yet isn't. If you suggest something new, like a workaround, then explain the whole thing for a newbie, don't request we know it all, and give answers in your secret language for insiders only to understand; this is not crime or CIA.
Distribution: Currently: OpenMandriva. Previously: openSUSE, PCLinuxOS, CentOS, among others over the years.

You did not even respond providing any information requested by members, there were at least 4 members that responded to try and help you. And you could not even give proper information to allow members to help you. And this is how you thank them for their help ??

usb alternative comes up, but choosing it makes nothing happen.
Well, good luck getting help anywhere with such little info, when you're not even prepared to answer member's questions...

Geric, don't be wasting peoples time, posting generic questions that give little info. If you need help, you need to be willing to put in a decent effort into troubleshooting, and not just expect people to read your mind, and give you every answer you want in life without you putting in any effort of your own.
