My mouse is frozen.

Last night I downloaded my new LinuxMint DVD. When I turned on my computer this morning, it booted properly. However, when I got to the LinuxMint 16 screen, I found that the mouse pointer was frozen on the L. (I checked to make sure my mouse was plugged in properly, and it was.)

I tried turning my computer off and turning it back on again, but the problem persisted.

I would appreciate advice on how to get my mouse pointer moving.

an OLD parallel port ?
an OLD parallel port Wireless?
a usb wired?

I would ask, does the keyboard work or is everything frozen ?

The DVD is live.
The mouse is a Dynex Wired Optical Mouse.
Its model number is DX-WMSE2.
It is a USB wired.

I look forward to receiving any advice you may have for me!

I can't check most of the keyboard because I can't get past the LinuxMint 16 home screen, but I know the F8 key works.

Make sure the mouse optical light is on, and try a different USB port. As this is a live DVD, does the mouse work in other distros ? Has it worked before with this particular LinuxMint 16 live DVD ?

I suspect it could be a bad burn of the DVD as you seem to have burned it recently.

Also, if you have another mouse, test with it. They can wear out. It's rare, but it happens.
