Thumbs down My mouse's side scroll buttons DO NOT work

I have tried editing xorg.conf, I found my mouse with the side scroll buttons, It says it is a Logitech Media Play mouse (wireless). However when I try to save my changes I added " "Buttons" 7" It says that I do not have the necessary permissions to edit the file. When I try to change
the permissions all the options are greyed out and it says
"You are not the owner of this file so you cannot change the
Also I cannot use Sax2. It opens fine but when I close it
I get something like "You should test the settings before saving. If the screen shows a corrupt desktop then press ctrl+alt+spacebar and again after a beep." I get a corrupt desktop every time even if I have not made any changes.
(cntrl alt spacebar) does not work.
