My Modem is going TOO fast ????
Hey guys...
im downloading fedora (AGAIN !)

and my 56kbps modem (connected at 52kbps) is running at a steady 9kbytes per second !!!

it should not be able to go that fast !

should i be worried ?
its a big download and i would hate to find it got corrupted...

however, i am downloading from a mirror very close to where i live..

anyway, thanks for any opinions.

Wow. I sometimes got 5-6 when I was on dialup - maybe better in spikes, but usually 4.4. I wouldn't complain though. What can you do? Interrupt the download and start over just because it's going great? :) Let it go and it'll probably be fine. Not real technical advice, but you said 'opinions'. ;)

modems are limited at 56k for a reason.

You could be using compression.

No, phone modems are limited at 53 Kb per second because of FCC regulations.
