My /home has been moved now I can't login
Help please.
I used gparted live cd to move some partitions around. I noticed that that my /home drive changed from hde6 to hde5 when I finally got a grub diskette to boot my menu.lst file for ubuntu and login as my user I get an error about not finding my /home so I go in safe mode and edit the /etc/fstab to let is know where my /home is. I am still getting the same error when I login. I am a linux newbie and have searched for some time and can not find anything like whats happened to me. Any help appreciated. LonnieC |
The problem may still be in your grub.conf/ menu.lst. If the home in there is incorrect you may get errors from my experience (Although I was dumped to an Ash shell, and didn't even make it to the login screen)

I found the solution. It seems sometimes things are left in the tmp that may point to the wrong path for /home so I deleted all items in tmp and now I can boot to my /home.
Now I need to figure out a grub error 17 after loading stage1.5 Learning Linux is challenging and always an adventure. LonnieC:) |
