My dlink dwa-125 won't let me connect to the internet

I'm brand-new using Suse Linux 11. I finally got it installed unlike Ubuntu and Fedora, which both wouldn't install on a specified virtual drive/partition. Now I want to use Linux and connect to the internet so I can access online resources without booting to Windows. My Dlink dwa 125 wireless network adapter won't let me connect to the internet. Dlink says that my adapter doesn't have any linux drivers, and that I'd have to buy a new adapter. Is there another solution? If so, where & how do I install it? Much Thanks

A quick google turned this up.

Another user has it working. This thread will tell you the name of the drivers you need. They exist. As far as getting it going in Suse, most of the procedure is the same. Slack uses specific files to configure wireless, and that part will be different in Suse.

i've done everything I can at my skill level, but am unable to get this working. I don't even know if I need to download something and put it on via CD vs. finding something within the "kernel" I have now, let alone install it. I have ordered some linux dummies books which may help me. If someone wanted to help me further, then I'd need to know how to go about locating what I need, then I'd need to figure out how to install it. Thank you.

You don't have to download anything. Camorri gave you a good link, most of the items there are run as commands.
The other items are done with text editor.

I now see the link is to "page 2" of the post - I will try that process...

Hi, i see that i have to blacklist some default drivers - i'm a little timid doing this - is there a way to reverse the blacklist operation if there is a problem?

camorri 03-20-2011 02:03 PM

The easy way is to put a # symbol at the beginning of the line in the blacklist file for the driver you want to un-blacklist. The # sysbol causes the entire line to be treated as a comment. Of course you could just delete the line also.
