My acpid is not running

on my opening terminal it says that my acpid is not running. it also says:

Failed services in runlevel 3: haldaemon network
Skipped services in runlevel 3: smbfs nfs gpm microcode powersaved suseRegister ypbing autofs

can anyone help?

Did you boot up in safe mode? Check for the noacpi boot option when you boot up or by reading /boot/grub/menu.lst file.
