(mv ~/.config ~/.config.org) ruined my FPS in games

Hey just signed up after lurking for a bit. :)

I'm using Mint 17.1 and following the advice in this post to solve my missing menu problem which worked fine.

But now after using
Code:

mv ~/.config ~/.config.org
my FPS in a steam game went down from 70 to 30.

I did some re-installations in my package manager, but the FPS still sucks.

Reinstalled the following packages:
steam-launcher (1.0.0.47)
I also re-downloaded the game as well to make sure it set a new configuration file if it needed to.

There are still numerous problems with configuration files though especially GUI stuff sometimes things don't show up properly or not at all.

you are aware that the "~/.config" FOLDER is well a folder for many configuration files for almost everything

so basically EVERYTHING is going to have be reset

you did look and read the names of the many files in that folder
i have 813 files in 230 folders in just ".config"
