MusicMatch 1.0
Hello,
I could use a little help installing MusicMatch on Redhat Linux 9.0. I installed as user instead of root as suggested by the installation file. After what appeared to be a good install, when I went to the directory where the mmjb executable is installed and tried to run it I received this message in the terminal window: "/home/freefly/mmjb/wine/bin/mmjb-wine: relocation error: /home/freefly/mmjb/wine /lib/libntdll.so: symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference" If anyone could help me determine the error I made to cause this message it would be greatly appreciated. |
try grip instead
from the error you showed, mmjb either is a bad port and requires wine helpers, or only runs through wine. Best advice is to get rid of it and use something that works. |
What does that mean "try grip instead?" mmjb as far as I understand it is musicmatch jukebox --mmjb. How do I get rid of mmjb when MusicMatch chose it? As I understand it, MusicMatch requires wine; whatever that means :0( so I am still a little lost... Thanks.

music match jukebox sucks. it's designed for windows. any ability to run under linux is faked, and it's a piece of trash anyway
use grip http://www.nostatic.org/grip/ http://rpmfind.net/linux/freshrpms/redhat/9/grip/ http://www.nathanr.net/thisout/articles/linux-mp3/ |
Where is Music Match 1?
What ever happened to Music Match 1.0 for Linux?
Any suggestions? |
Im running RH9 messed with different versions of wine that "works" with RH9 only to be left with that GLIB BS. I use musicmach in windows and its the best music player out there ( well to me that is). If its "for linux" they need to forget this wine BS and make it a true LINUX app.
Advice: Dump it and go with something that works :) |
So, is bahamat suggesting that Grip provides jukebox-like functionality similar to Music Match? Does it support play-lists? and organize music?
I am using Grip to rip Cd's to my hard drive for a jukebox and looking for software to manage the jukebox, including play-lists and music categorization. I don't see that Grip can do that sort of thing. Can anybody tell me of a Linux app that might replace Music Match? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions. Dan |
Personally, I use amaroK. :)

Rhythmbox is very good, it's an iTunes rip off and if you have a lot of music like I do it's catalogue is awesome!
