When you right click over the virtual windows on the task bar and select Configure Desktops the first line only says 4.
Open an app in the main window. Click the next and start a different one. And continue. Does each and everyone have a different app totally 8 or does 2 windows have the same thing.
Now there is a file that defines the number but at the moment cannot remember it. At this time what is in the file under your home directory.
.kde/share/config/kdesktoprc
Press Alt+F2 and type "dcop kicker kicker restart". That should fix the silly desktop issue.
Its to do with the applet that displays the desktops (pager) on your task panel (kicker) not understanding that you've changed window managers, or more precisely that the new one treats multiple desktops differently to the old one.
wait i think that i am getting this wrong.
How exactly do i view a cube?
isn't it ctrl+alt left click and drag?
or am i wrong
because after i did dcop kicker kicker restart nothing changed visually
It's a known issue with compriz fusion: select 1 desktop; get four screens with the same desktop. Select 2 desktops; get 8 screens in groups of 4 with the same desktop.
And, you can't have a different wallpaper in each screen; they are all the same.
Developers hope to have that situation cleared up for the next release.
