Multiple Boot Win xp ,Suse 9.1,Mandrake 1.0
I have 2 seperate hard drives, 1st drive has win xp, the second I have Suse 9.1, and I'm wondering is it's possible to put Multiple Linux Distros on there with it ,(I'm currently downloading Mandrake 1.0) will the Boot grub display all OS's and load default same as it normally does just havin a dual boot.
I will partition 2 seperate Linux partitions using Partition magic on 80 GB drive, then the unallocated space will be NTFS just for storage, I do a bit of Movie editing. Is there any conflict to watch out for or anything I should do before installing Mandrake, apart from Backup? Thanks for any help. :Pengy: |
NTFS is fine for a storage partition, BUT, if you want Linux to be able to read AND write to it, go for FAT32 instead.
You also need to edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst to add the Mandrake install. Baldrick |
Thanks once again Baldrick65.
That would explain why I'm having trouble saving files to my Storage area. lol :D Quote:

I'm not sure where SuSE puts the grub file, In Mandrake it's /boot/grub/menu.lst. In others it's sometimes /etc/grub.conf. Just have a look around for it. If you need the correct syntax, then do a search here. The grub configuration file has been done to death here.
However, having said that, it might tell you in the manual :study: :D Baldrick |
in suse it is also /boot/grub/menu.lst
