multimedia codecs


hii frndzz,
i am new on linux and currently using fedora12 version. i am facing troubles when playing multimedia files in fedora....no codecs found error occured .plzz help mde to get away this problem

Hi,

you probably will need to install using 3rd party repos. See:

Evo2.

PS. Fedora 12 is very old (and afaik unsupported) so you may have trouble. I recommend using a newer distro.

Yes, fedora 12 is end of life, out of support.

I'd go futher than evo2- please dont use OSes that are end of life. Besides making life harder for you, it inceases the chance that you system will be compromised and turned into part of some botnet, etc., making the lives of the rest of us harder as well.

You won't get codecs for Fedora 12. They are supplied by the RPMfusion repository and they don't support old versions. Have a look at this:
https://kororaa.org/
They take the latest Fedora, remove a few bugs, and add all the important things like codecs. 20 minutes with the Kororaa DVD and you've got a Fedora setup which would have taken you several hours.
