Multi Boot (Red Hat 9 and 2 versions of Win XP)
 

HI, Im very new to Linux, I have heard that Red Hat is one of the best Linux's so i got it. I already had my 20 gig hard drive partitoned into 3 volumes, a primary and secondary with two logic drivers. I used FDISK and split the three into equal thirds. The volumes were for linux, win xp pro and win xp pro in polish, (i want to to touch up on my polish reading and writing). I already had the english Xp pro installed, and when I was installing Red Hat 9 I guess i formatted everything and made partition only for Red Hat. I dont even know how. Im using Red Hat right now and its pretty awesome so i want to keep it but i guess i will have to repartiton and try again with the installer. What do I do when the installer asks about the partitoning so that i can keep my volumes and only use the volume that I made for Red Hat. Or better yet what can I do to install Windows Xp now from Red Hat, my xp's setup doesnt work through dos mode so i have to start it through an OS (in this case Red Hat) but when i run the cd it says something like "Nautilus has no installed viewer capable of displaying " Also the same thing happens when i wanted to run Ares setup so that I could download "Partition Magic" and partition my drive with out formating everything. Im pretty confused right now any help would be great. Thanks

Ok firstly install windows.

(win XP comes with different language settings which you could install one one winXP version)

after you have installed Winxp Load up you linux distro.(redhat)

install redhat and it will install a bootloader onto your mbr or a place which you specify. this means that it will have a boot up screen which will say :

Linux
dos or windows (depending on what version you install.)
some other stuff not required yet


when you want to access windows just select dos on the boot loader.


PS. Leave a partition free for linux as it requires a different Format to work. (redhat especially)

about 6 GB should be plenty.
