MS Terminal Services
I know that MS is a bad word but I need to connect some older PC's 486 to a Windows Terminal Server (Citrix). I have loaded Slackware 9.1. What program can I use to connect to the Terminal Server? Do I need to load "x" to do this?
Thanks |
If you need to connect your Linux machines to a Windows server you need to install and configure samba.
As far as Linux goes you don't really need X but if you want to do word processing and things that depend on the gui than yes you should probably install X. As far as most server stuff (like samba), no you don't need X. |
Linux version of the Citrix client is available for download on their website.
Yes AFAIK you do need X Also here's something you might be interested in: http://thinstation.sourceforge.net/ |
While all the above answers were right, I thought I'd add one more just in case. I know you said you were connecting to Citrix, but here is a link to RDesktop. It is a linux Remote Desktop Protocol client that allows you to connect to any NT, 2000, XP, or 2003 machine running Terminal Services. I use it all the time to manage some Windows servers and it works like a champ! Just my $0.02....
