mplayer cant come up with missing file
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...zo.so1+firefox
hi- i linked to another thread above. there is this file called liblzo.so1 in the article above someone mentioned finding it but then didnt say where. i have looked really hard for this file and cant come up with it. i believe it is the only thing stopping me from firing up this mplayer. if anyone knows where i can get it i'd appreciate it. i am using suse 9.3 i use the non 64 bit version. i have an amd athlon processor. file:///home/thirdshift/Documents/mplayerplug-in-3.11-0.pm.0.i586.rpm file:///home/thirdshift/Documents/MPlayer-1.0pre7try3-5.i586.rpm these are the 2 files i want to use to install it. thanks very much, jim |
find / -name "liblzo.so1" -print should look in the / directory and all subdirectories for liblzo.so1...

Errr... perhaps a typo??? If really liblzo.so.1 then install the lzo rpm for SuSE, you can find it at http://rpm.pbone.net/ or one one the SuSe mirrors.

re: mplayer
i give up. i am going to wait until i get suse 10 and upgrade. i have mplayer installed. i go to www.alldanzradio.com to test it. i click on the station i want to listen to. a dialog pops up and asks open with mplayer? i select yes and mplayer opens. then it just sits there doing nothing. i know sound is working because i can hear sound effects on the stereo coming from linux. at least i learned stuff today like learning how to specify how to change the source in yast for an install. i will just use windows for now. thanks for helping. jim |
ok, thanks for all the fish!!! :) why didn't you install mplayer using yast? it should have installed everything you need. do you have any mp3's that you can try playing with mplayer?

hi-
i still cant seem to understand the dolphins. i had mplayer working as a plug-in. it was really generic. it had a pause stop and play. you couldnt skip songs or stations. i want to use kaffeine. when i specify to open a url to alldanzradio.com i get this error message. i tried installing xvidcore but it didnt work. i also tried installing a kaffeine mozilla plug-in. well unless someone understands this error message and can help i will listen to music in windows. i still am determined to try and pick up some more linux. i am learning a little as i go. thanks for helping, jim xine: couldn't find demux for >http://www.alldanzradio.com/channel.asp?channel=Alternative%20Rock&station=adultalter< input_http: content length = 26423 bytes xine: found input plugin : http input plugin demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "demux_avi: invalid avi chunk "video_decoder: no plugin available to handle 'XviD format' xine: found demuxer plugin: AVI/RIFF demux plugin xine: found input plugin : file input plugin |
hi-
i am going to hook the mplayer plug-in for firefox back up today. never mind about kaffeine. at least i will have some music to work with. when i upgrade to suse version 10 i might have better luck. thanks for everyone helping, jim |
hi again-
just reporting the good news. i have the very nice kaffeine player working for www.live365.com stations and www.shoutcast.com . i didnt get kaffeine to work at alldanzradio.com but mplayer would play that. i cant figure out where i went wrong. it isnt meant to be tricky. i think part of the problem was once i installed mplayer plug-in it took over my machine kind of. if you dont have the mplayer plug-in installed in the browser, you can give the machine a chance to ask open the playlist or save to the drive and then open later with your choice of media player (like kaffeine). now i have some music to listen to while i learn suse linux. thanks again, jim |
