MPD and NCMPC difficulties

In my normal Ubuntu workstation, I run MPD and NCMPC with no problems whatsoever.

Now, I have setup another smaller box, from which I have also been trying to run MPD and NCMPC. The catch is that the Music files still have to reside in the main workstation, for storage constraint reasons. I have set up an NFS connection to enable MPD on this smaller remote to access the music on the main workstation. And I do everything on the remote via an SSH connection. So far, so good.

MPD starts on the smaller remote with no problems or messages whatsoever. But when NCMPC starts, it does not show the music database. How can I indeed be sure that MPD has created the database that NCMPC was supposed to read?

What other leads should I follow?

Thank you for your help.

How did you create the database. According to this link ( http://www.techdrivein.com/2011/05/m...r-command.html ) one method is depreciated and didn't work for the author.

Using "mpc update" maybe implies each client creates a database. I use amarok in KDE so someone else will be more familiar with mpc.
