mp3s pause when playing across LAN

hey whats up guys?

im having an annoying problem over here. when i play mp3s from my linux box im fine they play fine there is no prob.

but i have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server comp that has all my mp3s. so when i am playing mp3s with XMMS thats from this Server and i go to mnt/smb/server/mp3s/Rock/ and look at what mp3s are there it starts pausing the mp3 while its loading all the mp3s in this directory.

i thought this is cause there are too many mp3s in this folder but when i double click on a directory that doesnt even have that many mp3s like like mnt/smb/server/mp3s/techno/ i get the same skipping and pausing of music caused by loading the folder with mp3s.

i guess the mp3 pauses because my computer is too busy loading up the mp3s in the directoies im trying to look at?

did anyone else ever have this prob? its not really a big deal at first i didnt care but now its starting to get on my nerves so i wonder if anyone else is in the same boat? or any tips?

What kind of network setup is this and how are you accessing the mp3's, thru samba or any other way? Are you going thru a router or straight connection from one computer to the other? Hardware setup might be helpful too...
