MP3 Problems
Hello all,
Just another of my many questions. My MP3's on my Windows box do not work on my linux box, yet my mp3's that I have ripped on the linux box work on my Windows box. The only program I have used to play the mp3's are the linux version and windows version of Winamp. Can someone explain why this is happening? Thanks Bernard :newbie: |
Redhat won´t support mp3 by default, due to legal reasons. You have to install mp3 libs. Its very easy, just google for "redhat mp3 libs" or something.

or download xmms and install it. xmms looks and runs just like winamp.

I'm assuming that he meant xmms when he said "the Linux version of Winamp." You can play MP3s with it by downloading the latest version and overwriting the one that came with Red Hat. Just make sure that you delete the settings file (it is a hidden file in your home directory) or the new version will continue to use your old settings and not play MP3s.
