RedHat/FC won't play mp3s -- i heard a rummor there was a licensing conflict of sorts, but the end result is no support from redhat.

When i ran FC, i had to find a supplemental package to RhythmBox to enable mp3 playback, though sadly i do not have a link available, i remember dag producing good packages...

i dont know if this helps but i understand that red hat cant play mp3 (to do with patents and legal complications) but im sure if you go to the fedora/red hat website you will get some advice, and you could try installing other programs such as the (excellent) amaroK, which will tell you what libraries you require to play mp3s.
