MP3 Playing problem
Hi
I am working on linux/fedora from last three years. Recently i purchased a new motherboard and installed FC5. Almost everything working properly except sound. I tried to play mp3 using xmms (xmms-mp3). But it doesn't do anything except blocking device. When i tried with realplayerGold10. It starts playing mp3 but not properly. In realplayer the mp3 plays with very slow, it looks like i am playing very old cassete. Can any body help me ? My PC Configuration is Motherboard - D101GCC Processor - Intel D Processor, 2.66 GHz |
I belIEve that MP3 on FC5 is disabled because of licensing issues in USA. See http://home.gagme.com/greg/linux/fc5-tips.php

Hi
Already I have seen this. Because FC5 doesn,t have mp3 support i can not play but I have installed mp3 plugin as suggested on the same page. I am getting sound with mp3 but it is not clear looks like a slow rate. Any other suggestion ? |
Havw you also looked at http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Fedora-Multime...OWTO/x165.html
"To actually enable MP3 playing, you'll need to run xmms and change its configuration. Select Options → Preferences → Audio I/O Plugins from the menu; this will pop up a window listing plugins. Select "MPEG Layer 1/2/3 Placeholder Plugin" and uncheck [ ] Enable Plugin. With this placeholder gone, xmms will plug in xmms-mp3 automatically. Kill xmms and restart." |
Hi
This also I have tried. |
Is the sound fine on other formats besides MP3?

Hi
I tried avi and dat files with mplayer. No, I cann't play. The results are same. The problem looks like related to the rate(speed). Realplayer and mplayer are playing with the rate of 128 kbps. I didn't find any option to change it. Can i change this in realplayer ? |
