Mozilla video Plugins

I'm running Mozilla 1.7.3 on a hard drive install of Knoppix. Has anyone had any luck finding a good plugin for playing Quicktime and Windows media files? I tried getting MPlayer via apt-get and a couple of others (like VLC) but didn't have any luck. I'm sure this question is old as dirt but my web surfing only turned up mention of Mplayer, hence the post.

I tried Kaffien as well and the video actually does pop up but it has no sound and I get an error message: "A problem occur while loading a library or a decoder: qtmlClient.dll"

mplayer-plugin
mozplayerxp

also try mozplugger, useful for pdfs etc.

Hmm...

When I apt-cache search (yes, I have updated) I only get

mozilla-mplayer

which I tried and which didn't work out for me for some reason

and I get nothing for mozplayerxp.

I do see mozplugger - would that work in conjunction with Kaffeinne or is it a replacement for it?

mozplugger works with mplayer - I think you need to have mplayer installed in the first place.

Your question about Kaffeine will doubtless be answered once you just try.
