Moving the trash location

I store all my important data on a backed up, shared drive. I'd like to keep my deleted files around, but not have them using space on the share. I have a local drive on this machine which I want to use, but I cannot figure out how to move the location of the trash can. I am using redhat with nautilus. Anyone know how to do this?

Your trash location should be ~/.local/share/Trash. So, theoretically, you could run init 3, remove the Trash directory, and then create a symlink to a seperate location of your choice.

Hope that helps some,

EDIT - I just noticed that in order to pull this off, you would need to backup the contents within Trash first, then copy them over to the new location.
