I'm a and Mandrake 9.1 was the first distro I ever used and I found it was reallly good. Now I'm using Mandrake 10 community and loving it, I find prefer it to 9.1.
Mandrake 10 Community, I love it. It's fast( a least compared to 9.1), looks and feels great and has a simple installation, but then again I haven't ever tried anythnig else(Haven't ad a reason to ).

i'd avoid gentoo until you learn more. of the other 3 i'd say mandrake, if only for one reason. fedora nor redhat support mp3's out of the box. as far as ease of use and install, i can't speak on fedora or redhat, but, mandrake was a very easy install, very user friendly. i still abide by my first post. try them all some time or other. you may find you like different things about each.
good luck.
