Moving accounts from a machine to another machine
Hi all,
I am building a new machine to replace the existing old machine which is a mail server. How can I move all the users accounts and pop3 accounts from the old machine to the new machine. What files I need to copy from the old machine to the new machine so that after switch over, no files for the users will be lost including such as mails. |
You can easily move the accounts. You need to copy the whole /home directory and /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, /etc/group and /etc/sgroup.
POP3 accounts: it depends on your mail server. You probably need to bakup the whole POP3 server configuration. |
Moving accounts from a machine to another machine
Hi Mara,
The old mail server I used is RedHat 7 postfix and the new mail server will be Mandrake 9.1 postfix. Do I need to copy all the postfix server configuration files to the new machine. |
