Movies online

hi im new to linux and i watch alot of movies online youtube, megavideo those type of sites, but if i try and let one page load while i play another, the movie loading freezes, not the hole page just the player does anybody know why?

That sounds like a bandwidth problem, as in "not enough bandwidth". So, you have to wait until the buffers fill, then the player resumes until the buffer runs empty, then another wait, and so on.

You don't mention which movie player you are using, so I suggest you take a look at the settings. Do you have the option to increase the size of the buffer? Increase the buffer to the approximate size of the movie (if possible) then the movie should run more smoothly (once it's been downloaded).

this also sounds like a adobe flash issue
if so then there is no real fix
you could dump adobe's proprietary binary blob for two open source solutions
see:

but there is no guarantee one way or the other

Gnash (an open-source flash player, still experimental) works with YouTube on Firefox. I don't know about other things.

Also, you can try this app: http://qt-apps.org/content/show.php/...content=128368

well i have both divx player and vlc player for online movies, but the problem is with letting the movie buffer to long, if i let it load to long then the player goes blank and i have to refresh the page, also for some reason sometimes it takes dozens and dozens of clicks to get a megavideo and a youtube video to play does this make sence to you guys?

ok for those with the same problem (i have been looking around online) i think i have found a solution, if you are using firefox or swiftfox download the "FLASH-AID" add on. It has solved all my problems.
