Moved W2k(hda) to new computer, now Gentoo(hdb) problems
OK, so i was dual booting W2k(hda) and Gentoo(hdb).
I just built a new computer and moved my W2K HD to the new computer and left the Gentoo HD in the old one. I then booted the Live Cd and set Grub up to boot Gentoo and that worked fine although I get an error on boot up (dont remember exactly, Im at work) and when I went into KDE and Gnome, they both looked like I just set them up. All my settings were gone. Also when I try to start an app, there is HD activity but it eventually stops and nothing happens. How do I get everything to see that it is now hda instead of hdb. Is there a way to run the HD as hdb even though it is the only Hd in the computer? And Ive already changed my fstab entries to hda |
Did you edit fstab to remap /, /home etc ?

Sorry I didn't read the last line (DOH!)
Please post the error message when you get a chance. These things tend to be important ;) Also post fstab (or at least recheck it) loosing you settings tells me you haven't mapped the /home directory properly. |
Ill post my fstab tonight when I get home. Should I also post the dmesg?

Just the fstab for now.

ok, well i guess i never rebooted the system after i changed the fstab cause everything is fine now.
Thanks for your help. |
