Mousepointer looks like crap in KDE3.1 on Slackware 9.1
Hi!
I think I need a pointer as to how I could fix this.. I've installed Slackware 9.1 on my laptop and (to my big surprise) successfully recompiled the Kernel (2.4.22) to remove some stuff I didn't need. Everything works just great, and i managed to get KDE 3.1 to run with no errors. BUT after I configured X to use the correct drivers for my Videocard (Neomagic MagicGraph 128 ZV) and restarted X my mousepointer looks like a big sprite that has gone really bad. no arrow there, just a big blob. Where do I begin to solve this? I can use the mouse and everything, but it looks like crap, and it's a little tricky to point where I want with that big ugly thing. I tried searching google and this forum, but my problem is that I don't know enough about the system yet to have a good idea of what to search for.. =) Anyone experienced this before? And yeah, thanx to everyone here. I've been reading a lot of stuff here and I have to say that without you guys and gals I would have still been scared stiff to even put a Linux CD in my PC! =) EDIT: I just realized that the mousepointer is equally ugly in any window manager I run so it has nothing to do with KDE (At least I don't think it has) Anyways, I solved the problem by running my videocard with the VESA driver, and since the card is so old and I don't need support for anything but SVGA I decided to stop hunting for a working solution with the "correct" driver. |
