Unhappy mouse problems with mandrake 7.0

I said earlier i was having resolution troubles but have remedied that since going into Xf86config.
Since doing that i have lost control of my mouse , If i move my mouse whatever is on the screen moves and the mouse pointer stays in the top left corner and u see a shadow pointer, I have a PS/2 compatible mouse and have it set to /dev/aux.
Are my settings wrong or is it from changing my resolution?

Any help would be appreciated ( im beginning to get allergic to linux )
