mouse not playing game

Yes, well I have Logitech cordless mouse, and it seems to have stopped working properly. *However* when I 'cat /dev/psaux' I do get a reaction to mouse movements, although the cursor does double back on itself alot.

If the mouse is working properly why doesn't X pick it up? What should I look for?
