mouse is freezing in redhat 9

Occasionally my mouse will freeze in redhat 9. I'm not sure what is causing it because it seems to happen fairly randomly. It doesn't happen all the time, so I could live with it if it's just an unknown bug, but I was wondering if any of you had heard of this before.

It's a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. It's connected to my PS2 port through a USB converter. Any advice?

Thanks, you guys have been a tremendous help to me since I installed Linux.
