mouse in vmware

allright i got the graphics working so i get into gnome. (using redhat8 in a vmachine, vmware is installed on the win2k machine. Once i get in my mouse does crazy shit. I run mouseconfig and have tried every ps/2 mouse in the list. I don't understand what the conflict is though since i am using a belkin standard two-button wheel mouse. Anyway, i dont know what else to do. I have opened the XFConfig file but i can't see why it doesn't work.
