Mouse in Upper Left Corner KDE3

Does someone know whats going on with my box. I just installed slackware 8.1 and I boot up KDE and my mouse is in the upper Left corner all the time. It's funny because the mouse moves but it is invisible.
the cursor is always in that corner but when I go over icons it changes into a hand but still remains in the corner. I have tried my vertical and Horizontal Sync rates for the monitor and have tried to set everything up in my XF86Config file using xf86config.
It won't budge and I'm getting frustrated.
please help I'm pretty new at this and need some guiding.
thx Rock Howard

is it USB mouse, if it is you need to change protocol in core pointer section of XF86Config to imps/2
If its not USB... it could still be using a wrong protocol, but i dunno which one you should try...
Sorry i couldnt help much..

Ok, I suppose it is PS/2 mouse, right? What does Protocol say in /etc/X11/XF86Config in Section "InputDevice"? Also what device does it report it is using? /dev/mouse, other? W/o your help there is no help for you, you know?
